Please keep in mind when leaving a review that I cannot prevent mishandling or delays! I mark each box as live insects and to keep upright! I will tape the contianer to the bottom of the box so it isn't thrown around. I will do everything possible to get them to you alive!
I offer charcoal cultures as well just check my listings!Springtails can also safetly be flooded and filtered!. I will mark the box as live and to handle upright! I will insulate the containers with bubble wraps and foil to keep as much heat in/out as possible.
Keep cultures at 50-80 degrees they can only temporarily tolerate more extreme temps. If springtails are not active upon arrival, they may have entered a hibernative state. Add some water and see if you see any movement, if after a few hours you see no movement, please contact me. Returns may be required for refund.
Springtails eat mold, rice, and sometimes squash. They thrive on mold. I personally sprinkle yeast over the charcoal and allow it to mold to feed springtails, if you see mold in your containers that is GOOD. Springtails are the cleanup crew of the insect world! I have included a vial of yeast for food!
There are no air holes as springtails should be kept in an airtight container as they need moisture and the container only needs to be opened once or twice a week.
Please research springtails for further info especially if you wish to breed them off this colony!
Thank you again, please don't hesitate to reach out and please leave positive feedback!
